The Spring

Sleeps 2, with open plan kitchen, dining and sleeping area in beautiful surroundings

Property Information

The Spring  – is set in a beautiful location on the private 42 acre Steanbridge Farm in the Slad Valley. This luxury conversion is on trend and the perfect location for a romantic mini break. There is a parking space for 2 cars and gentle wooden steps over the stone wall beside a gurgling spring lead you to your private hideaway. The valley is your own in this secluded charming quirky residence on a working farm surrounded by sheep and horses with the most stunning views over the famous Slad Valley. Warm, cosy and finished with luxury in mind there is a Ralph Lauren material sofa which pulls out into a 5ft comfortable kingsize bed with mattress and frame. This will be fully made up for your arrival and the bedding can be stored underneath when reverted to a sofa.. Towels hang on the heated rail in the ensuite shower room with mains water pressure, vanity unit, loo and shampoo with hair dryer. There is a large fridge, clothes hanging space, heater or air conditioner unit, mains plug sockets inc USB port, microwave oven and 2 hobs in the fully equipped kitchen. Indoors there is a dinner table for two whilst share some tea and cake or crack open some bubbles, flutes at the property. Outside are comfortable reclining chairs, table and an excellent gas plancha to cook breakfast for two on the patio whilst enjoying the stunning panoramic views. A truly idyllic place to get away from it all but if you need to be connected there is good wifi, bluetooth speaker and a Smart TV with Freeview.

For a back to nature experience The Spring will not disappoint. Venturing out on foot a special map is laminated for you to photograph in the property so you don’t get lost! Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust owns four beautiful nature reserves in the Slad Valley called Frith Wood, Snows Farm, Swifts Hill and thanks to a very successful fundraising appeal the new Laurie Lee Wood. The Laurie Lee Wildlife Way takes in all four Nature Reserves and the trail is marked by wooden posts carved with the famous authors poems. People come from all over Europe to see the beauty of these valleys. Upon your return it is advisable to book a table at The Woolpack in Slad for a delicious lunch or dinner which is only a 7 minute walk from The Spring. If you want to explore a little further afield you will find lots of pretty villages and market towns, one being Painswick. Stroud is only 2 miles away, with a mainline railway station to London has an award winning farmers market every Saturday morning (go early) and a weekday covered market replicating London’s Borough Market offering prepared food stalls. Stancombe Farm Shop is just over the hill, award winning Jolly Nice is on the Cirencester to Stroud road if you wish to pick up some supplies. Your landlord has a Pedigree Dexter Beef heard and normally has some available to buy in his freezer if asked. Williams Food Hall is in Nailsworth and highly recommended for takeaway food to order. The restaurant there is open at weekends.

There is so much on your doorstep but in Autumn I recommend a walk at Westonbirt Arboretum near Tetbury. If you’re looking for larger towns you will find Tetbury, Gloucester and Cheltenham close by. Cheltenham is an elegant Regency spa town and offers something for everyone of all ages and tastes. With stunning architecture festivals and events and an abundance of boutique shops, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues throughout the town. The biggest attraction has to be what Cheltenham is internationally famous for and that’s horse racing. There are monthly race meetings from October to April.
