CLONDAW CASTLE (IRE) produced another fantastic effort at Newbury on Friday to win the valuable 2m3f Handicap Chase for his owners John French, David McDermott, Sharon Nelson & Tim Syder. He relished the better ground conditions and stayed on strongly under Johnny Burke to win by two lengths. The handicapper has put him up to a career high mark of 155. He has got an entry at Cheltenham next weekend in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup which may be worth considering if the ground conditions remain in his favour.
SUMMERVILLE BOY (IRE) ran well to finish a close fourth in what many people consider to be the race of the season. He is entered in the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot on the 19th but we could opt for dropping him back in trip instead as he seems to be travelling so strongly in his races.
