Three winners have brightened up a challenging week at Down Farm and credit must go to the team for battling the elements!

SPRINGFIELD FOX (IRE) stamped his class on the 3m Novices Handicap Chase at Exeter earlier today. He dictated throughout and produced another excellent round of jumping to win readily for owners Sharon Nelson, Vicki Robinson, Dermot O’Donohoe and John Cavanagh. He ticks all the boxes as far as long distance staying chasers go and looks an ideal candidate for the 3m6f National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival next month if conditions remain in his favour.

BIG BRESIL outstayed his rivals to make it a double on the day in the 2m2f Novices Hurdle. He’s an enormous horse who was bought by Roger Brookhouse with chasing in mind so winning over hurdles at the first time of asking was a welcome bonus and he can only go on from here.

ROCK ON ROCCO (IRE) got off the mark for owner Roger Brookhouse at Huntingdon yesterday in the 2m Novices Hurdle. The ground was changed from good to soft to heavy following the race but to his credit he travelled well throughout and stayed on strongly after the last to win by two lengths. He’s a chaser in the making and is sure to benefit from a return to a sounder surface.
