It was a great few days for us last weekend with five winners in five days and we’re hoping for more of the same this Saturday.

We have a couple of horses going to Aintree and a couple going to Wincanton.

Copper West has already won one nice prize this season. He kicked off with a victory in a £50,000 race at Market Rasen three weeks ago and he looks to have a good chance up of following up off a nice weight at Liverpool.

It should be a good day for his owners, The MerseyClyde Partnership, with Copper West gunning for an £80,000 race on their local patch.

He’s joined at Aintree by Baby King. He ended last season with a win at Ludlow and the handicapper only put him up a pound for that so we’ve still got plenty to work with.

Baby King, owned by the ‘About Two Weeks syndicate’, likes Aintree. In fact, he landed this race two years ago and we also won it with Parsnip Pete a few years earlier. This looks a nice starting point for the season.

Johnny Burke is on both of our Aintree runners.

Down at Wincanton Sumkindofking, owned by David Fox, will look to go one better than he did last year in the Badger Ales Silver Trophy.

He chased home Present Man in the race 12 months ago and he didn’t run at all badly on his comeback run at Wincanton when the pace wasn’t really strong enough for him.

The ground is good at Wincanton and it would suit him if the rain stayed away.

We also run one of our nice young horses at Wincanton. Writteninthesand has his first run in the bumper having won a point-to-point in Ireland. He’s been showing plenty of enthusiasm on the gallops so it will be interesting to see how he gets on.

James Bowen will ride them both.
